DUVET CLEANING FULHAM

Free Collection & Delivery | Pressed Flat Finish | Open 7 Days

Most people in Fulham wash their bed sheets every week or two but leave the duvet untouched for months — sometimes years. The duvet sits on your bed every night, absorbing sweat, skin cells, and moisture. Over time that builds up inside the filling where no amount of airing it out will fix it. Our duvet cleaning service in Fulham gives your duvet a proper professional clean using the right method for the filling type. Whether it is a down duvet, a synthetic hollow fibre, or a wool-filled duvet, we treat it correctly. Drop it at our shop on Fulham Road or book a free duvet collection through our laundry pickup and delivery service — we cover all of Fulham and the surrounding areas. We have been looking after bedding in Fulham for over 30 years, as part of our full laundry service in Fulham.

Is It Better to Dry Clean a Duvet or Wash It at Home?

For down, feather, silk, and wool duvets, dry cleaning is the better option. Home machines are too small for most duvets and cannot dry the filling evenly, which risks mould and clumping.

  • Dry cleaning preserves the loft and structure of the filling — and our eco-friendly dry cleaning process uses closed-loop solvent recovery to minimise the environmental footprint.

  • No shrinkage or fabric damage from water and heat

  • Professional stain treatment is included as part of the process

For synthetic hollowfibre duvets, professional laundering in a large-drum machine is often the right approach. We choose the correct method based on your duvet's filling and care label.

How Often Your Duvet Needs a Professional Clean

Once a year is the minimum for most households. If you have allergies, asthma, or pets in the bedroom, every six months is better.

Your duvet absorbs a lot while you sleep. Sweat soaks into the outer fabric and works its way into the filling. Dead skin cells settle into the material. Dust mites feed on all of it and multiply quickly in the warmth.

Washing your duvet cover regularly helps, but it does not clean the duvet itself. The same applies to wool blankets and throws — our blanket cleaning service handles those with the right method for each fibre. The filling inside stays dirty no matter how often you wash the cover on top.

In Fulham, many flats and houses have good central heating but limited ventilation. Bedrooms stay warm year-round. That creates the conditions dust mites love most. A professional clean once or twice a year breaks that cycle and keeps your duvet hygienic. 1

If you cannot remember the last time your duvet was cleaned, that is a good sign it is overdue — and the pillows alongside it are in the same position. Our pillow cleaning service treats every fill type correctly

Which Duvets We Clean and How We Treat Each One

Every duvet filling needs a different approach. We check the care label on every item before we do anything.

  • Down and feather duvets. These are the most common ones we see. Down and feather fillings are delicate — water and heat can cause the clusters to mat and lose their loft. We dry clean these using a solvent process that cleans the filling without wetting it. The result is a duvet that comes back as fluffy and light as when it was new.

  • Synthetic hollowfibre duvets. Synthetic fillings handle water better than natural ones. We launder these in a large-capacity machine at the correct temperature. The filling stays even and the duvet comes back clean and fully dried.

  • Wool duvets. Wool needs careful handling. High heat and agitation cause it to felt — meaning the fibres lock together and the duvet becomes dense and lumpy. We use a cool, gentle wash or dry cleaning depending on what the label recommends.

  • Silk duvets. Silk cannot go near water without damage. Silk duvets are dry cleaned only. The same care we givesilk garments applies here — solvent-based cleaning that cleans without touching the structure of the fibre.

  • Not sure what your duvet is filled with? Check the label on the corner seam. If it says dry clean only, bring it to us. If you cannot find a label, bring it in anyway and we will assess it before we start.

What Happens If You Machine Wash a Dry-Clean-Only Duvet

It is a common mistake. The duvet looks too big for the dry cleaner. The home machine has a large drum setting. It seems like it should be fine.

Here is what actually happens.

The filling clumps together during the wash. Water soaks into the clusters and they stick to each other rather than staying separate. After the cycle, the duvet looks thin and lumpy. The filling may never recover its original even distribution.

If the outer fabric is not designed for water, it can shrink. Stitching and baffles that hold the filling in place can weaken. And if the duvet does not dry completely — which is common with thick natural fillings — mould can grow inside within days.

If this has happened to your duvet, bring it in. We may be able to help restore it throughspecialist dry cleaning. We cannot promise to fix every case, but we will look at it and tell you honestly what we can do.

How We Remove Stains From a Duvet Without Damaging the Filling

Stains on a duvet are tricky because you cannot just treat the surface. The outer fabric is stitched into sections called baffles. Any liquid you apply seeps through into the filling underneath.

Our approach is different from scrubbing at home.

  • Before cleaning. We check every duvet for marks when it comes in. Sweat yellowing on the outer fabric, tea or coffee stains, makeup near the top edge — we spot all of it. Each stain gets a targeted pre-treatment applied directly to the outer fabric.

  • During cleaning. For dry-cleaned duvets, the solvent lifts the stain as it passes through the fabric. It does not soak the filling the way water would. The stain comes out and the filling stays intact.

  • For badly set stains. If a stain has been through a home machine without coming out, it is harder to shift. We may recommend ourstain removal service for hands-on treatment before the main clean. This gives the stain the best possible chance without risking the filling underneath.

Duvet Cleaning and Dust Mite Removal

Dust mites are microscopic. You cannot see them, but they are in almost every duvet that has not been professionally cleaned in the last year.

They live deep in the filling, feeding on the dead skin cells that work their way through the outer fabric over time. Their waste is one of the most common triggers for allergic rhinitis and asthma — both of which affect a significant number of adults and children in London. 1

Washing your duvet cover at 60°C helps with the cover itself, but the mites in the filling are untouched by that. They need the duvet itself to be cleaned.

  • Dry cleaning kills dust mites through the solvent process. For down, feather, silk, and wool duvets, this is the most effective method.

  • High-temperature laundering for synthetic duvets at 60°C or above also kills dust mites and removes allergens from the filling.

After a professional clean, your duvet is free of the build-up that triggers reactions during the night. For families in Fulham with young children or anyone who wakes up with a stuffy nose, this matters. Oureco-friendly dry cleaning option is also available for customers who prefer a gentler solvent process.

How often should I have my duvet professionally cleaned in Fulham?

At least once a year for most households. Every six months if you have allergies, asthma, or pets sleeping on the bed.

Can you clean a down or feather duvet without ruining it?

Yes. We dry clean down and feather duvets using a solvent process that cleans the filling without wetting it. The loft and fluffiness are preserved.

What happens if I machine wash a dry-clean-only duvet?

The filling clumps together, the fabric may shrink, and if it does not dry fully the duvet can develop mould inside the filling. Bring it to us before it goes in the machine.

Do you collect duvets from my home in Fulham?

Does professional duvet cleaning remove dust mites?

Yes. Dry cleaning kills dust mites in natural fillings. High-temperature laundering removes them from synthetic duvets. Both methods clear allergens from the filling.
